This website will give you information about my background and the services I provide as a Queen's Counsel
I am one of a small number of Queen’s Counsel in New Zealand specializing in criminal law and human rights. I also have an interest in constitutional law and international law.
As a barrister I must be retained to act for a client by the client’s solicitor.
Lawyers play a critical role in maintaining a free society. They defend the rights, liberties and property of their fellow citizens. They stand, when necessary, between the citizen and any attempt at abuse of power by the state. My work as a lawyer is based on the belief that the law, and especially the criminal law, provides a means of challenging those who hold power, and in particular the misuse of that power.
