I am one of a small number of Queen’s Counsel in New Zealand specializing in criminal law and human rights.

Lawyers play a critical role in maintaining a free society. They defend the rights, liberties and property of their fellow citizens. They stand, when necessary, between the citizen and any attempt at abuse of power by the state. My work as a lawyer is based on the belief that the law, and especially the criminal law, provides a means of challenging those who hold power, and in particular the misuse of that power.
